Subsidiary motions help the assembly process main motions. They can modify, delay, or dispose of main motions.

Amend

Changes the wording of a motion. "I move to amend the motion by striking $500 and inserting $750."

Refer to Committee

Sends the motion to a smaller group for study. "I move to refer this motion to the Finance Committee."

Previous Question

Ends debate immediately. "I move the previous question." Requires 2/3 vote.
